island rescue marks the first release from san franciscos dan judd under his sorcerer alias in three years. with this release on new diskotopia sub-label a kind of presence, sorcerer fuses his trademark californian balearic sound with influences gleaned from 70s afro-funk tapes for three new original tracks, backed up by myakkah and greeen linez remixes. strong support has been coming in for the release from the wire (who have played tracks from the release on their rewired radio show), spin magazine (who featured an exclusive stream of the release with a feature), jon tye, gold panda, magic touch, the beat broker, ben cook (fucked up, yacht club) and many more.

rekids have teamed up with detroits fit distribution and enlisted the services of motor city locals marcellus pittman and urban tribe to put the 313 sound on *working* and *taxi talk*. on the former, marcellus pittman lays down his trademark blend of mechanical yet jerky old-skool drum machine rhythms and disorientingly dissonant, tripped-out synth chords – creating a somewhat eerie atmosphere that evokes images of detroits manufacturing plants of yesteryear. on the flipside, urban tribe transform *taxi talk* into a big room monster, using rumbling synth bass, electronic bleeps and laser gun snares to transport us back in time to a dark and hazy 90s warehouse rave.

ascs brand new imprint, diode, kicks off with 3 techno tracks. full of vibrance and the usual production nuances we have come to expect from asc over the years. solenoid is the lead track and gets straight down to business with no messing about. heavy kicks, keys laden with fx, and snappy percussion make this a firm floor tune. on the flip, we have the moody and sinister release, which flirts with darkness, and backing it up is the essential carrier. 3 standout tunes from a name synonymous with quality electronic music.

the latest offering from the balearica imprint featuring more top quality sun-kissed gems. first up is derrick harriots *black skin blue eyed boys*, a fantastic reggae disco cover version of the equals classic originally released on the mega rare *acid rock* lp back in 1982. following this bomb is the funky party killer, david lampells *iranian groove*. the flip side features the exceptionally hard to come by 12 inch version of *praise jah* by trinidadian singer oluko imo that captivates with its predominant funk bassline and inventive keys. finally, we have amadeos hugely in-demand *memories*, a spacey balearic disco groover that has been popping up on many djs most wanted lists ever since it was one of the standouts of harveys brilliant *sarcastic disco mix*. wonderful stuff!

magic feet introduce three new artists on their first label sampler, as well as a remix from label owner craig bratley. the tracks cover various genres, taking their inspiration from house, italo, new beat and disco. first up is paresse, an alias of swedish producer ivan bergren. *the night before you came* is a hypnotic, evolving slice of future disco. craig bratleys remix shows craig indulging in his obsession with the world of analogue synths and sees the track taking in a deeper and darker direction. craig has also had a hand in editing *lost era* by kepier on the flipside, a track with a direct lineage to the belgian new beat sound. to round off the ep, we have soul tension, an alias of tony beardsley, who also produces as dark strands. *suburban life* is a superb take on the slo-mo techno sound.

label boss, dj spider links up with analog guru, phil moffa! these two analog junkies have put together a crushing 4 track split effort. the first 3 tracks are strictly for the dance floor and the last one is a deep, mental piece! they each delivered one track each and two tracks were done together. warm analog drums with pure synth soundscapes are on display here from beginning to end. a must have for all true, underground soldiers who support new york techno!
